There is an undeniable sense of empowerment that comes from having money. Money allows you to attain not only what you need, but what you want. It allows you to make choices about your career, where you live, what you do for fun, what you own. In short, money can provide a sense of freedom and a sense of security. As powerful as money is, however, it is only one aspect of “wealth” that is available to you. Use these 3 steps to abundant wealth and you will feel like a rockstar.

Is There More to Wealth Than Money?

We all deserve to have the good things in life such as happiness, health, loving relationships, success, and wealth just to name some of the big ones. However, these things look different depending on what your definitions are and what aspects you consider. For example, when we think of “health” most of us first think about physical well-being. For some people, physical health is only about an absence of illness, but health can also be about being active and fit with abundant energy. What about mental and emotional wellness? These are all aspects of “health”.

The same is true about “wealth”. When you think about wealth you probably think about money. Besides having a great quantity of riches, Dictionary.com also defines “wealth” as: an abundance or profusion of anything; a plentiful amount. What do you have a profusion of in your life besides money?

I have what I call an “abundance practice”. It is my personal form of gratitude. Every day I thank the universe for my abundant health, energy, love, wealth, and everything else. I have a list of over 40 items for which I am grateful, and it is so fun to watch the list keep growing. When I think about my abundant “wealth” I list all the kinds of wealth that occur to me: a wealth of love, a wealth of joy, a wealth of ideas, a wealth of friends, a wealth of energy, a wealth of curiosity, a wealth of compassion, a wealth of optimism… The list goes on. For me, the word wealth is almost synonymous with the word abundance. I do this practice for things that I have and for things that I wish to cultivate more of in my life. It is a signal to myself and to the universe that this is my intention.

What does it look like to have abundant wealth in your life?

You too can cultivate wealth beyond your wildest dreams in just 3 steps:

  1. Begin with Gratitude

As always, I start with gratitude. It creates positivity, spaciousness, and an ability to receive good feelings. If you don’t have a gratitude practice, I highly recommend you set aside a few minutes daily to think about or list things for which you are grateful. They can be actual things, like a great home, family, friends, or a construct like knowledge, love, or empathy.

  1. Consider what “abundant wealth” looks like in your life.

When you pause and consider the gifts life has given you, what are they? What do you have overflowing in your world? Is it a wealth of knowledge about a topic? A wealth of ability in a specific area or two? Do you have a wealth of energy? There may be considerable overlap between your gratitude list and your “wealth” list. Awesome.

  1. Stay curious and open to grow your lists.

For me, this is the fun part, keep expanding your lists! Do this every day and you will gain momentum. Invariably, one positive thought leads to another and will begin to affect your sense of optimism and happiness. There is a proven inverse relationship between positive and negative thoughts. The more positivity we cultivate, the less negativity we allow into our thoughts and feelings.

It may not always feel like it, but how you experience the world is a choice. You can choose to live each day thinking and feeling like you are being cheated and lack the good fortune others have, or you can choose to feel abundantly “wealthy” and invite satisfaction and joy into your life. Even if you can only think of one thing that makes you feel abundantly wealthy, that is a start! With practice, you can shift your mindset and begin to feel happier. When you figure out what abundant wealth looks like to you, really, it will rock your world.
