Why I Created LHL
Not all that long ago, I was in desperate need of something like Living Healthy List to help me find answers to the health issue that I was struggling with.
I was happily married to my best friend and traveling the world. I had everything I’d ever dreamed of; a handsome husband, a great relationship, a beautiful house, an opportunity to travel, and the freedom to enjoy my life to the fullest.
I should have been on top of the world. But I wasn’t. Silently, I was struggling with something so personal and private that I was too embarrassed to talk about it. So, I didn’t and I felt completely lost and alone.
I was tormented by night-sweats. However, I was suffering from so much more! At least 4 times a night my sleep was interrupted by “the sweats” and after each episode, it was more and more difficult to get back to sleep.
I was tired. I mean really tired and cranky. Half the time I wanted to cry other times I wanted to scratch someone’s eyes out.
I was not myself! The exorcist maybe, but not me!
I’m a positive, optimistic person and I have always prided myself for being kind, calm, and thoughtful. The person you could always count on especially if you were having a bad day. Now, it was me experiencing a bad day every morning.
Wait, there’s more!
A few years earlier, I had undergone several infertility treatments that were unsuccessful. Unless of course, you consider the weight gain that resulted as a success. At 37 years old, suffering from night sweats, I was also trying for the first time ever to lose weight. I’d weighed the 118 pounds since college and was now pushing 140 pounds. I stand 5ft 1in on a good day so according to the BMI chart, I was OVERWEIGHT.
So, I did what all of us are programmed to do. I turned to the internet for answers and was astounded by the number of programs, pills, potions, and diets that claimed they had THE answer to weight loss. Except, they all said something different. How could Paleo, Low Carb, and High-Fat diets all be THE answer?
Quickly, I realized that the internet was inept at providing reliable information. The website owners were not interested in helping me solve my problem or answer my questions. Their reason for existence was to sell their product. To me or anyone. My experience is a major reason I became a health coach.
I hadn’t had a proper night’s sleep in over three months. I felt fat, overwhelmed, and exhausted. Worse yet, it was affecting my relationship with my husband. After one particularly fretful sleepless night, he finally said something.
I immediately made an appointment with the lady doctor. He should know how to help, right? Exhausted and on the verge of tears, I told the doctor my situation and asked for help. Instead, he completely dismissed me. He said, and I quote, “At your age, it’s just a phase, nothing to worry about, you’ll get through it.” And then, he walked out.
Devastated and desperate to talk to someone, anyone who understood what I was going through, and could actually help me I went back to searching the internet.
I was about to give up when I clicked a link that generated a questionnaire. It asked about my lifestyle, stress levels, diet, and sleep habits. My doctor hadn’t asked me any of these things. Hopeful, I typed my phone number and hit send.
Ten minutes later my phone rang! On the other end of the line was the nurse who received my form. Empathetically, she listened to my story, heard my anguish, and offered me reassurance. For the first time months, I found a connection, a real live person, and honest answers.
To my relief she told me that my situation was not unusual for a woman my age, I wasn’t dying, that I could take back control of my health.
I founded Living Healthy List so that you can have that experience, too. To be confident that the answers you obtain in regard to your health and wellness questions are truthful, and that the experts you connect with are trustworthy. All without spending hours on the internet and hundreds of dollars on products and programs that do not work.
Living Healthy List is about connection. Whether you seek answers on health, wellness, personal development, or fun, our goal is to connect you with the answers you need from experts that you can trust. We want you to look at your health and wellness goals differently, and this is how you can do it!
Why The Peacock Feather?
The peacock is one of the most enchanting birds in the world. They strut around with supreme confidence unknown to other birds. They have large intelligent-looking eyes and small crowns affixed to the top of their heads, like ornamental flowers.
With its tail proudly fanned we are entranced by the vibrant iridescent blue and green feathers. Even a quick glimpse of a peacock is awe-inspiring and brings delight to everyone in sight!
Symbolically the peacock represents many things such as vision, freedom, attraction, expression, spirituality, mindfulness, awakening. Many of the distinct attributes that we all strive for.
Peacocks possess some of the most admired human characteristics such as refinement, incorruptibility, kindness, compassion, and knowledge. Characteristics of our experts at Living Healthy List live up to both personally and professionally.
The peacock is a symbol of integrity, and the beauty we can achieve when we show our true colors; who we really are behind the mask’s we hide behind whether out of fear, distrust, or anger.
At Living Healthy list, you are able to shed your mask, feel safe, comfortable to ask the questions you need answers to and happily live the healthy lifestyle that you desire.
