This year, 2020 was an unprecedented year of division, seclusion, less freedom, and sadness. Unfortunately, we all can agree that it was a year of unforeseen challenges! Did you feel like you were on an emotional roller coaster with many ups and downs? We are all trying to be ourselves in a world trying to make us be like everyone else.  If you want to make 2021 your best year ever it’s time to go on a journey. A  journey of introspection.

Life is all about choices that lead to decisions and outcomes, both positive and negative. It is all about the journey and wondering where does one start? Sometimes we need to stop, regroup, and refocus. Maybe it is time to get back to the basics in life and choose this year as a springboard into a fabulous 2021! What if we put into action the word ‘Basic’ to mean ‘Being Able to Say I am Committed? If that is you, let us walk down that path together.

I’m Committed!

The trailhead sign read ‘I’m committed’, this way and began to walk toward commitment! And all the while, I would stand firm and not panic! To make a change is the first step. Setting action steps and implementation will carry you to the end of the path and across the finish line. Do thoughts go through your mind of how to start? Where would that path lead? What is it going to feel and look like? We all have choices and decisions we can make, and that path is unique and different for everyone. Personalize it to work for you and start with some basic concepts. Remember this is your journey f retrospection, make it personal.

When the shutdown began in March, I began to move my business from in-person to online. Work on my business instead of in my business. Sound familiar? Over the next months, I focused on supporting family, friends, and those with small businesses. Imparting encouragement, love, and support to concentrate on what I can do for others!. What an eye-opener, heart lifter, and attitude shift filled with gratitude.

Time to Pivot

Time to pivot again. I heard the calling to start at the beginning and back to basics with my Health and Wellness business. Not for my benefit, but for the intention of aiding others. So many people in the world are looking for a natural way to be healthier. Inadequate health and energy can lead to a decrease in positivity and productivity. Reignited was my passion for helping others through a renewed set of eyes.

Yet to help others, I needed to have the “do as I do” mentality. I went back to a concept I learned many years ago and put into action SMART goals. SMART goals were developed by George Doran, Arthur Miller, and James Cunningham in their 1981 article “There’s a SMART way to write management goals and objectives” and ist a great tool on your journey of introspection.

SMART Goals
  • S = Specific
  • M = Measurable
  • A = Attainable
  • R = Relevant
  • T = Time-bound

Each SMART goal should have these five characteristics to ensure it can be reached and gain the desired benefits. With that as a solid foundation, I began to apply this to 4 areas of my life for overall health: Mentally, Emotionally, Spiritually, and Physically.

Here’s a little more about goal setting.

 Mental Mindset

Be open and dedicated to making a positive difference in your life. I chose to celebrate the good things in life with a positive outlook and start each day with gratitude! From the moment I wake up and before my feet hit the floor. I start saying things for which I am grateful. As stated on Mindful.org, practicing gratitude has incredible effects, from improving our mental health to boosting our relationships with others.

 Emotionally

Do not hold onto opposing thoughts. Feel it, accept it, and then LET IT GO! Put your head down, and one foot in front of the other. Fake it until I make it was where I used to live until I put that grateful heart into motion. A Random Act of Kindness (RAK) means to give your best to others without expecting anything in return. PoistivePsychology.com suggests that RAK, paying it forward, can improve the state of wellbeing. As compassion begins to grow, run down that path to meet it.

 Spiritually

this looks different for each person, so dig in deep and practice what works for you daily. My daily routine consists of having God as my number 1 mentor. When I pray for others, amidst my challenges, this seems to melt them away. Worship music speaks to me in a way that shifts my heart and state of mind into an ‘I can do’ attitude! Words have great power! Encouragement to others results in a shift of focus off of me and onto helping others. Try it and see! Don’t be a crab in a bucket, continually pulling someone down with criticism.

Physically

To ensure I can achieve life to its fullest, treat my body with care, and make it resilient. Exercise 3-4 times a week at a minimum. Ride a bike, take a walk, or jump on my treadmill when the weather does not allow me to be outside. No excuses!

Drink purified water and eat organic foods is essential to consider. For maximum efficiency, it is how our bodies absorb the food and supplements we take.

Organic and natural products are not created equal.  It’s essential that you know how the products you take are made and how they work in your body.  My daily routine consists of the following: For relief of anxiety, aches, and pains, and my body in balance, I take 10X Pure CBD oil with a patented delivery system for maximum absorption. To synergistically support my immune system, a daily Multi-Vitamin with the same patented delivery system and Super-7 fruits are a must.  Then I enjoy an Extreme shake every day to ensure I get in the required protein and greens.

My Result

I am completely off all medications, saying goodbye to side effects and I have a “Best Health” toolbox that gives me full energy, allowing me to be more productive.   Then I applied the same principles to my work life. Wash, rinse, repeat. With more joy and content, I am working longer hours as a solopreneur than in the corporate world. How many people can I encourage, lift-up, and provide a solution for a healthier life? It is all up to me what each day will unveil and how many lives I can touch!

A Reflection of 2020
  • An incomprehensible year for all, with many ups and downs.
  • On the path of the journey, do not let your smile become a frown.
  • It is the tone of expression, of how and what you share.
  • To support and encourage shows others you care.
  • We think of you often, reminiscing with thoughts running deep with hope.
  • When reviewing those joyous memories, it always helps us cope.
  • Feelings of appreciation and gratitude run rampant and run deep.
  • Knowing soon we can be together, these thoughts we will always keep.
  • Look not at what we have lost, but rather what we have right here!

Make 2021 the best ever, hopeful, peaceful, joyful, everlasting year!
