We hear and do a lot of talking the talk about the mind, body, soul connection, but when it comes to the true integration of the three, very few of us are walking the walk. We constantly research diets that will help us grow and thrive—we give our body food for nourishment and our minds food for thought. And while we throw our soul the random affirmation, meditation, or prayer session, we don’t give its care and feeding much consideration.

But in all fairness, most of us have no idea what exactly our souls are and how they impact us and even less about who we are as a soul being. We get the mind because we’re always thinking. We understand the body because we’re always moving. But what do we know about soul-ing? And how can we care for something we don’t know anything about?

Soul Lessons 1.0

So before we get into how to take care of it, here’s a quick primer on the soul. All this information is supported by well-documented universal truth and knowledge and is augmented with messages I’ve received from the Angel realm.

  • Your soul is made up of energy and that energy is love.
  • Your soul comes into this human experience a blank slate, equipped to create the existence you want, but not yet spiritually awake.
  • Each soul awakens through a journey of love, joy, and abundance.
  • Each soul’s experience is different and is decided before it becomes part of the human experience.
  • The purpose of every soul is to find self-love, which is the same as Divine love.
  • Your soul and ego, which is where fear and all the feelings associated with it (unworthiness, anxiety, anger, jealousy, etc.), are in conflict.
  • Listen with your emotions. They tell you all you need to know about the truth.

There you have it. At bottom:  You do not HAVE a soul…you ARE a soul…a spiritual soul having a human experience. Now let’s learn how to take care of it.

Spiritual Diet

When it comes to the care and feeding of your soul, it’s your spiritual diet that counts. Your level of spirituality is connected to your level of concern with the human spirit as opposed to material or physical things. Your spirituality is your emotional home base, as your feelings are the indicators of the health and wellbeing of your soul self.

Just like the negative impact nutritional deficiencies and/or physical and hormonal imbalances can have on your mind and body, spiritual deficiencies negatively impact the health of your soul. Two common spiritual imbalances are:

  • Imbalanced Male/Female Energy

Male or female, we have both energies within us, which are meant to provide the balance
necessary for a healthy, joy-filled, abundant life. Male energy is the “doing” energy. It is rational,
logical, confident, protective, conquering, exacting. Feminine energy is the “being” energy. It is
intuitive, creative, nurturing, compassionate, and inclusive.

When masculine energy is imbalanced (too much) one’s life and relationships will witness the
erosion of intimacy, vulnerability, compassion, and kindness. When feminine energy is
imbalanced (too much) it can show up as people-pleasing, self-doubt, procrastination, and
enabling.

  • Imbalanced Sexual Energy

Sexual energy is CREATIVE energy. People who declare and believe themselves not to be creative
have shut down their sexual energy. But it’s your sexual/creative energy that aids in your sense of
self-efficacy and empowerment, authentic self-expression, and problem-solving capabilities.

Think about it, how do you feel when your feel the vibration of sexual energy? Strong, confident,
beautiful, capable, empowered? That’s how I feel. And if you feel the same or anything remotely
similar, why wouldn’t you want to feel that way always? Why wouldn’t you want your creativity at
the forefront of your life?

Spiritual Junk Food

Whether it’s too many potato chips and Coca-Cola or too many liquid lunches, junk food can be detrimental to a healthy mind and body. Well, your soul is no different, spiritual junk food in the guise of negative thinking, fear-based decision making, self-defeating patterns, and negative self-imagery, can crush your spirit and leave you feeling exhausted and soul-weary.

And just like the Oreo cookie binging, indulging in negative behaviors can often feel good and comforting in the short run. But it’s the long-term accumulation that complicates our lives and feeds into our feelings of failure and unworthiness.

Nourishing Your Soul

The content of your human body is over 60% water. Along with oxygen, your body must recycle and replenish H2O and O2 to remain fit and healthy. Your soul is 100% energy, and that energy is love. And like your body, your soul must recycle and replenish through the acts of giving and receiving love to thrive.

You can replenish your soul through sensuous living by tapping into the God-given gifts of your five senses. This allows you to find pleasure where you stand. It puts the delight in the mundane and makes the world interactive in ways that take us beyond living and make us feel alive. Living sensuously is how we make our souls sing as we bear witness to the beauty and bounty that has been bestowed upon us. It generates love within us through appreciation, gratitude, wonder, and surprise.

We can recycle and continue the flow of soul love by recognizing the infinite amount of love around us. Whether it is Divine love shared with Source, the soul love shared with those we know intimately or with those across the globe who we will never know but our souls touch through compassion and empathy, or the love we give and nurture within ourselves; it is through the constant giving and receiving of love that keeps our souls growing and evolving, and our lives along with it.

Let’s end with a shout out from the angels about soul purpose:

At bottom—all lessons begin and end in love—love of self that then extends outward to love of others.  To connect with others in love, joy and bliss is the sole purpose of the soul. –So Says the Light
