Hey guys, are you one of the many men who ignore the fact that you suffer allergies.  Specifically hayfever allergies?  You know, the itchy watery eyes, stuffy nose, sore throat, and uncontrolled sneezing that attacks you every Spring.  Some call it hayfever but men suffer from He-fever!    Are you one of those tough guys who would rather ‘grin and bear it’ instead of doing anything about it? You no longer need to suffer because there are some simple tips to help reduce hayfever symptoms and spice up your life this he-fever season.

Hay fever (he-fever) and allergic rhinitis are caused by your immune system overreacting to pollen and other airborne allergens such as dust and pet dander. This releases histamines, chemicals your body makes to get rid of something that is bothering you, like tree pollen.   Histamines can make you sneeze, itch, or cause your eyes to burn and water.  It’s your body defense system that causes hayfever symptoms. That being the case to reduce hayfever symptoms alleviate teh discomfort you need to reduce the pollen and/or block the histamines.

Ways to Block Histamines

Tumeric

I mentioned that spicing up your life can help with Hayfever symptoms. Turmeric, an orange-yellow spice, used in curries and South Asian cuisine, is believed to reduce inflammation.  Specifically, the inflation caused by the enzyme phospholipase A2, which is provoked into action by pollen in your system.

To add turmeric into your diet you can Make a hot curry dish and go heavy on the spices. Add lots of onions in too!  Especially red on as they have teh highest levels of quercetin which is a natural antihistamine. Anti- Histamine which can block the effects and reduce hayfever symptoms.

Grooming Matters

You may be wondering what grooming has to do with relieving hayfever symptoms.  If you have been outside, even for short time pollen can get trapped in your hair.  Wash your hair every night to get it out of your hair and to avoid pollen getting on your pillow.   Also, do not change your clothes in your bedroom.   Pollen collects on clothes so as soon as you take them off it will be dispersed throughout your room.  With pollen in your room, you’ll have an increased pollen level in your body when you’re trying to sleep.  Remember the goal is to reduce hayfever symptoms and keep them at bey.

Natural Allergan Balms

Natural allergen barrier balms are a drug-free ointment applied to the base of your nose and around your eyes.  Used throughout the day the balms can trap some pollen before it enters your body and can be effective to help prevent and reduce hayfever symptoms.

The stickier the balm, the more pollen it will trap. Organic allergen barrier balms, such as HayMax, have been proven to block over a third of pollen grains in the air before they enter the body [1]. It’s applied to the base of the nostrils and around the bones of the eyes to help stop pollen entering the body. It’s drug-free and with no drowsy side-effects, it won’t affect you whilst driving or at work.
